OUTSTANDING ACQUITALS FOR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (DSIP) FUNDS FOR NAMATANAI DISTRICT FOR THE YEARS 2019, 2020, 2021 AND 2022; A MATTER OF SERIOUS CONCERN.

We take note of the publication by the Ombudsman Commission on its website (https://www.ombudsman.gov.pg/outstanding-acquittals-for-provincial-and-district-improvement-program-funds-psip-dsip/ ) dated 15 February 2024 relating to the outstanding acquittals for the District Improvement Program (DSIP) funds for the financial years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

This is a serious matter and we commend the Ombudsman Commission for ensuring that there is strict compliance with the relevant laws, especially the Public Finance Management Act, of the Country in the management of people’s monies.

The contents of the Ombudsman Commission’s publication dated 15 February 2024 are self-explanatory and represents an active, constitutionally established, body that is keeping the rule of law alive in Papua New Guinea.

As a matter of good governance; accountability and transparency remains key pillars in the development of Namatanai District. We urge the citizens of Namatanai District to take a keen interest in how your monies are being spent by the Namatanai District Administration and assist any ongoing inspection taken up by the relevant statutory bodies. We must at all times, strive to keep our system clean, at all cost.
